A Telford parish councillor resigned this afternoon after being reported to a standards board over racy pictures of her on an escort website offering her services for £150 an hour.

Nicola Holmes visited the offices at Great Dawley Parish Council, where she has been vice-chairman, and handed in her resignation today, clerk David Griffiths said.

It comes after she was featured on an adult website which described her as a "38E busty brunette".

The ex-councillor for Malinslee strenuously denied any involvement and described the webpage as "disgusting". She claimed someone else had put her photographs and details on it. She denied ever working as an escort.

As a result of the revelation, she was reported to Telford & Wrekin Council's Standards Committee which met on Monday.

Today Mr Griffiths said the resignation letter gave no reason for her departure, after being re-elected just three months ago.

Councillor Shaun Davies, chairman of Great Dawley Parish Council, said: "I would like to thank Nicola Holmes for her service as a parish councillor over the last few years. It is regrettable that she has found herself in this situation, however I respect her decision to resign."

Russell Griffin, spokesman for Telford & Wrekin Council's Standards Committee, said it would now not be carrying out an investigation into the former councillor's conduct.
