Councillors in Ludlow are being given the chance to "opt out" of a controversial A-boards policy which caused outrage among traders in the town, it has been revealed.
Members of Ludlow Town Council will decide on Monday whether to adopt Shropshire Council's policy to enforce a maximum of up to two A-boards per business or risk businesses displaying numerous boards.
If they don't no enforcement will be carried out unless an A-board is seen to be causing a danger or obstruction to the public – maintaining the initial situation before a major pilot project was carried out in the town last year.
It has also emerged enforcement has not been carried out in the town for several months while details of the policy have been ironed out.
A special town council meeting has been called to make a decision on Monday night.
