The chairman of a south Shropshire Pubwatch scheme has quit, claiming that fellow members did not show him enough support.
Simon Patrick, who runs the Old Bull Ring Tavern, said he did not like the way the Pubwatch scheme in Ludlow was operating.
Paul Kemp, who runs the Rose and Crown and the Bridge Inn, has replaced Mr Patrick as chairman.
Today Mr Kemp said: "As chairman, people looked to him for leadership, and it didn't come."
However, he added: "We are sorry that he doesn't want to be a part of it and that he feels that way. The resolve of Pubwatch is stronger than ever. There was very good attendance at the first meeting I chaired and we are all very keen to make sure it goes forward."
Mr Patrick said: "I have stepped down because I didn't get the support. A few of the policies I didn't agree with."
The scheme was set up about six months ago and has barred more than 20 troublemakers since it started.
The group has been working closely with the Ludlow Community Alcohol Partnership which works to tackle under-age drinking.
Tony Mantle, licensing officer for Shropshire, said: "It's been reported to me that there has been a change of chair and as far as we're aware the resolve of Ludlow Pubwatch is as high as it has ever been."
