Young carers from Shropshire, who selflessly devote time to help sick loved ones, will be welcomed into Parliament today to discuss issues affecting their lives.
The group of seven youngsters, aged between 11 and 16, have been invited to tour Whitehall and then have a private meeting with Philip Dunne, Conservative MP for Ludlow.
The trip is being supported by the British Red Cross young carers service, helping young people between five and 18 who provide a caring role for a family member who is ill, disabled, suffers with mental health difficulties or has alcohol or drug-related issues.
During the meeting the young carers will describe to Mr Dunne the challenges they face on issues concerning health and education.
Vanessa Turner, young carers project manager for the Red Cross, said: "We are very grateful to Philip Dunne for inviting the young carers to Parliament and for taking the time to listen to their concerns.
"The young carers will also be contacting their other local MPs in the hope of raising these important issues with them too, and getting their feedback on possible ways they can help."
Councillor Vince Hunt, member champion for young people at Shropshire Council, said: "I hope sincerely that our young carers enjoy the day, and I wish to thank those who have made this trip possible for these special young people."
