Confused by ParkRight letter

I have today received a letter from SABC in reply to my appeal to the parking fine I received on December 1.

In it they have told me that the letter I wrote to your letters page "caused much distress and unnecessary confusion amongst blue badge holders in Shropshire". Let me tell all the blue badge holders that this was not my intention at all.

But the letter I received from the the appeals officer left me in total confusion. In it the reason for issuing the fine was not mentioned clearly in this letter; or indeed on the ticket when issued to me.

It appeared that the ParkRight appeals officer, in the letter I received, was upholding the fine on the grounds that I had my blue badge showing the incorrect way up.

On the original ticket issued to me it would have been good to know exactly why it had been issued and not just "parked without clearly displaying a valid pay & display ticket or voucher", which I took to mean I had not paid at the meter.

According to the Department for Transport Blue Badge Scheme page 16, "Badge holders may park for free and for as long as they need to unless there is a traffic sign specifying a time limit for holders of disabled parking badges".

How many blue badge holders have been caught in this way because they may have inadvertently placed their badge upside down.

In the letter I received today the fine has been dropped. Come on, Parkright, get it right first time.
