Roads not dangerous - it's idiot drivers
LETTER - Once again the dangerous roads brigade has been spouting off that it, whoever it may be, must do something about this or that dangerous road. I would just like to repeat that there are no dangerous roads only dangerous drivers.
LETTER - Once again the dangerous roads brigade has been spouting off that it, whoever it may be, must do something about this or that dangerous road. I would just like to repeat that there are no dangerous roads only dangerous drivers.
A small illustration of this occurred when I drove from Donnington to Stirchley a couple of days ago. At the Trench Lock Island two driver ignored no right turn signs and turned right.
Then the driver of a vehicle in the lane to turn towards Trench realised he wanted to go onto the A442 and with no warning swerved into the lane for the A442 southbound.
Next a small car came down the next slip without slowing down or looking to see what traffic was on the main road. This needed some quick thinking and rapid braking to avoid an accident.
Next up was a Land Rover towing a trailer travelling along in the nearside lane. The driver of this vehicle suddenly realised he did not want to turn left to Oakengates and swerved out into the offside lane causing some rapid braking yet again.
The driver had ignored all the road signs and road marking as he approached the Oakengates turn. The speed limit of the whole length of road is 60mph, but I would say more than 90 per cent were exceeding the limit.
One white van man almost drove onto my rear bumper in an effort to push me to increase my speed.
The point I hope I have made is it is not the roads that are dangerous it is the idiot drivers using them.
