LETTER - As stocks and shares take a beating on a global scale, a clear question arises: Where is your security?

Governments are trying to prop up their ailing banks by throwing millions of pounds/dollars at them and yet they still manage to fund armed forces, build spacecr- aft, pay for medical research, subsidise benefits/social services, buy food, build more houses - the list is endless.

Furthermore, we, as a country, are to buy two new aircraft carriers, host the 2012 Olympics and pay £20 billion to the EU. Add this up and you cannot comprehend the amount of money, then multiply it a million-fold to calculate a global scale.

Now it becomes apparent there must be something else that sustains life apart from money - after all cavemen managed without it!

The Samaritans are reporting a large rise in callers with financial problems. Suicides will increase; crime will increase leaving many victims and the homeless will grow in number. Anarchy threatens unless we do something about it.

Money in itself is not evil, but the love of it is. We are guilty of making money a god. Our security is in that god and now that god is letting us down - big time. Money cannot buy peace or happiness for long, neither can it buy eternal life. Isn't it about time to seek the one God who offers this?

The God who offers this can only be found by asking Jesus into your life, believing in Him and following his teachings. He has challenged our attitudes towards others and changed the lives of many. Jesus invites you to follow Him - what have you got to lose?
