Dog fouling is an offence and although Telford & Wrekin Council has made a concerted effort of late to tackle this problem, certain people believe it does not apply to them. The danger that owners put our young children in does not seem to concern them.

Single dog faeces can contain up to one million eggs from a dog that has not been wormed. I very much doubt the owners who can't be bothered to collect after their dogs are bothered to worm them. The infection from dog fouling can cause blindness in young children and there are about one hundred cases every year.

It is an offence to let your dog foul in public areas and I hope the council will continue to increase targeting offenders in the future.

Finally, there is no rest from this anti-social problem for the dead. My family recently buried my mother at Wellington Cemetery. On the following day I went to tidy her flowers to find an irresponsible owner had allowed their dog to defecate on the flowers on her grave.
