LETTER: Last Thursday, April 3, I was at Shawbury Village Hall and witnessed the ongoing vandalism that seems to take place there.

Every Thursday evening the hall hosts a bingo session. People from Shawbury, Wem, Prees, Hadnell, and Market Drayton go every week for a nice evening out. The majority of the players are 70-plus in age.

It is very well run by Dave Roberts and Ralph Prince plus helpers, who give their free time to give us all a good evening out.

Then, last Thursday, some mindless morons decided to have some fun by throwing a fire extinguisher through the front door, letting the foam out.

The hall had to be evacuated. We went out into the car park only to find they had smashed in the back window of a new car and set fire to the inside.

The car next to it had smashed windows and a third one was covered in chips.

I am sorry that such a lovely village hall is being wrecked by idiots who have nothing better to do.

My sympathies go to the village hall committee who find all their past good work being destroyed.

Councillor Peggy Carson, Wem
