Too much homework for young
LETTER - I read an article on the front page of the Shropshire Star recently "Pressure to scrap work set for pupils", which was about the Association of Teachers and Lecturers wanting to scrap homework for primary school children.

I was shocked and horrified when my daughter, who is in year five at Wilfred Owen School in Shrewsbury, came home on the last day of term with seven sheets of homework to complete during the Easter holiday.
One of the pieces of work had a warning on the bottom saying that if it wasn't returned or completed on the first day back then pupils would have to make the time up during break and lunchtimes.
I have looked up the definition of the word holiday - it means "a break from work or study to rest".
I would be very interested to hear other parents' views on the amount of homework our kids are getting, especially at holiday time.
