Academy no benefit to estate
I have recently read a letter about the new Madeley Academy and how it will be built on fields used by the residents of Woodside.
I have recently read a letter about the new Madeley Academy and how it will be built on fields used by the residents of Woodside.
The writer of the letter Mr Butler is correct in what he said.
Children from Woodside have little or no chance of attending the academy. The catchment area will be Sutton Hill, Madeley, Aquaduct.
Assuming the attendance figures stay the same for the academy, there will be 10 places for children considered to live out of the area.
Although Woodside is only just across the road, they are considered out of area and children who live nearest end to the school stand the greatest chance of getting in.
It is a shame that the residents of Woodside will lose their fields and not receive any gain.
I too wonder what the councillors for Woodside are doing, possibly they are too busy watching residents lose land in the name of regeneration.
