In light of the recent disastrous floods, it becomes clear that we must protect river catchment areas in the uplands against more concrete, tar surfaces and other landscaping materials.

Industrial development in the hills and on moorlands, such as huge wind power stations, disrupt hydrological channels, damage absorbent peat and permanent pasture, and necessitate clear felling of trees.
The rivers Severn and Wye arise in the Cambrian Mountains of Mid Wales, near Plynlimon. This area is currently threatened with plans being promoted by the Welsh Assembly Government for up to 200 massive wind turbines and associated infrastructure.
