The pub usually floods several times each year and measures how high the water reaches on each occasion. Due to the regular flooding, its beer barrels are at a higher level, rather than in a cellar like most pubs.
Marstons Pub Company, which owns the Boat, said it was due to reopen "imminently" but could not give a date. Spokeswoman Natalie Hodges said it would be reopening under a new licensee "in the near future".Teresa Green, landlady of the nearby Black Swan, said the pub shut its doors more than a month ago.
"We heard there was some interest in taking it over but no-one has done so yet," she said.
Eddie Maine, secretary of the Shropshire Licensed Victuallers Association, said the pub was one of the most well-known in the area and its closure was a blow.
During World War II, the Boat was the headquarters of Jackfield & Coalport D Company Home Guard. Earlier in the 20th century it hosted an annual flower festival.
