A Shropshire woman has urged people to "cast her" as the next entrant to a BBC reality TV programme.

Robina Hooper, from Shrewsbury, is trying to land a place on the show Castaway, which pitches contestants on an isolated island.

She is hoping to join to current "castaways" on the Great Barrier Island in New Zealand.

Robina, the daughter of Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council chief executive Robin Hooper, has made it to the final four contestants.

She is now trying to win the public vote to become the one who is sent around the world to join the show, which launched the career of television presenter Ben Fogle back in 2000.

The Mencap trainer has already appeared on BBC3 with Richard Bacon to sell herself to the public.

She will be in London on Sunday for the voting result and could be jetting off down under next week.

Robina, 22, claims her motto is: "Treat others how you wish to be treated, unless they need telling."

She said she would "totally love the whole experience whether it was good or bad".

Robina describes herself as a lively young woman who knows her own mind - she said she was "single and desperate" and was keen to get away from the Shewsbury dating scene.

The Castaway hopeful, from Wenlock Road, said that she had both socialist and right wing views and was also prone to hissy fits.

Robina admitted she had lead a charmed life and no-one had ever really said no to her. She said she was used to getting her own way.

Robina described herself as a no nonsense woman who likes to have fun and get in there and shake the other Castaways up.
