It is a fact that even if the UK reduced its carbon emissions to zero it would have absolutely no impact whatsoever on global warming since we as a country produce less than two per cent of the world's total CO2.

Only when the major contributors such as America, China, Brazil, Eastern Europe and Russia start to reduce their emissions will any improvements happen.

Needless to say, emissions from all these countries are currently increasing. People in this country are being conned by a Government using the green issue as means to increase tax to prop up a worsening economy. The "do as we say not as we do" policy by these hypocrites beggars belief.

When the council introduces the congestion charge to reduce emissions it will actually be counterproductive.

Rather than pay £5 to travel through the town a few times a day I will be forced to drive around. What cost in emissions an additional 15 miles?

If governments were serious then the hydrogen cell - technology available for many years where energy is created by splitting water and burning the hydrogen and oxygen - would be introduced as it is totally green energy.

This will not happen as the global economy runs on oil, which is easier to tax than water. Only when the likes of the USA start doing something then maybe we should follow.
