Let me declare my interest, I live in the London Road area.

Let me also say that when I first heard of this proposal I had an open mind but was inclined towards seeing it as a very positive development for Shrewsbury and I drew some reassurance from the circular letter to interested parties which referred to the recognition of the need for a "robust transport plan" to minimise the impact of the project on residents.

Sadly, that positive feeling has entirely evaporated as a result of my attendance at the public meetings which have been held to discuss this matter, in particular the meeting at the Shirehall on December 7.

The sentiments which were expressed, generally thoughtful and well-considered, by those attending were overwhelmingly negative and related both to the damaging commercial impact on the town centre, and to the woefully inadequate nature of the "transport plan" - to use the word "plan" in relation to the information given at the meeting is flattering.

Your headline was therefore a grotesque distortion of the realities and seems to reflect much more the personal ambitions of Messrs Molan and Dowell who evidently have scant regard for the legitimate concerns of those who will be negatively impacted by this scheme.
