TV chef's recipe for a disaster
As a writer said in the Star Jamie Oliver's meddling has been a disaster in many areas with children (even those on free meals), refusing the new "healthy" luncheon, and prices rising to try to recover the cost of the food thrown away.
As a writer said in the Star Jamie Oliver's meddling has been a disaster in many areas with children (even those on free meals), refusing the new "healthy" luncheon, and prices rising to try to recover the cost of the food thrown away- the amount of which is never disclosed to the public.
Removing sweet vending machines has also been a financial disaster, with some schools losing £5,000 per week income.
If, instead of listening to the publicity-seeking celebrity chef, education bosses had consulted nutritionists and dieticians, as well as the children, they could have removed the offending obesity-causing palm oil from school meals and kept the youngsters' favourite foods.
Had they not thought of oven chips, home-made fresh burgers available from local butchers, fat-free chicken nuggets and local vegetables?
And shame on you, school caterers, for selling water in plastic bottles.
There is nothing wrong with tap water and it's almost free.
So pandering to Jamie Oliver has virtually wrecked the school meals service and cost jobs.
