I'm sure the benefits to the children using the track far outweigh the risks. These include better health and fitness, but also confidence and self-esteem. More facilities of this kind should be created for young people. It is far better than having them turn to drink and drugs at a young age.

I have far greater concerns about the children allowed to ride their bikes in an urban environment with neither supervision or training. I think many parents must tell their children to ride on the footpath but fail to warn them of the dangers.

Cars reversing out of driveways are a major hazard and it is not always possible for the driver to see a cyclist trundling along the pavement.

Cycling is a wonderful and safe activity, if only a few basic rules are followed.
