Considering others on the roads

I am a keen motorist and a keen cyclist and I get annoyed by people going well below the speed limit (unless it's unsafe). Where they are available I always use the cycle path. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

The crux of the matter with the young man fined in Telford for inconsiderate cycling is that he knew the white lines would prevent cars legally overtaking but still used the road instead of the cycle path.

I admit he did have a plausible reason, but he could have pulled over to let faster traffic pass, thus proving his consideration for other road users.

As it was, he allegedly continued his route home oblivious to the traffic behind him and that, as the judge, said was inconsiderate. I wish this charge was used more often on all road users, such as those who don't know what indicators are for - especially where cyclists have to use the roads.
