We need gadgets in our lives

I read with pleasure Ben Bentley's feature "What price this techno progress?". Tongue-in-cheek as it may have been, perhaps accusing everyone of being illiterate is a little over the top.

We all do tend to rely on modern gadgets to get through life and our memories need a little tweak now and then.

Perhaps that's why I can't remember needing to know about "14th century crop rotation". And "polysyllabic disjunction" sounds like a vocally impaired parrot to me.

However, it's nice to know that both Mr Bentley and myself are literate. Well, he wrote the article and I was able to read it.
