Roots of war buried in hatred
Television brings the horrific brutality of war right into our homes. When we see little children with limbs blown off and mothers crying for their children we cry: "when will the killing stop?"
It's the story of the human race from the dawn of history. Many blame it all on religion and that's got a lot to answer for, but race is another cause.
The Welsh and English fought for centuries and still do on a Saturday night in Oswestry. But surely the root cause is hatred. You don't go to war with those you respect and love.
I can understand AJ Willitts wanting to abolish religion yet he is practically quoting Jesus - "do unto others as you would have them do to you".
He commanded us to love, not just our friends but even our enemies.
Ron Jones, Oswestry
