Paul and Barry Chuckle, the much-loved stars of children's television for more than 20 years, performed on stage at Theatre Severn yesterday as part of their latest nationwide tour.

Their new show, called The Chuckle Brothers Meet The Phantom At The Theatre, contained plenty of the pair's usual madcap antics and their famous catchphrases.

Hundreds of people packed into the theatre in Frankwell yesterday afternoon to enjoy the show. The madcap entertainment included a 'Shrewsbury's Got Talent' competition, lots of audience interaction and the pair firing water pistols into the audience.

After the performance, the duo stayed behind to meet their fans and sign autographs.

Their latest nationwide tour is due to visit Bedworth tomorrow, with the pair back in the Midlands on three occasions in the next couple of months.

They will be taking their Meet the Phantom show to The Grand Theatre in Wolverhampton on April 8, Stoke-on-Trent's Regent Theatre on April 13 and the New Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham on May 12.

Barry and Paul are real-life brothers and are the youngest in a showbiz family of eight.

The duo, from Rotherham, have been regular visitors to Theatre Severn and were at the venue last February to put on two performances of their touring show Return of the Pirates of the River Rother 2: In Stranger Tights.
