A major highlight for 2026 is the arrival of Avonside Engine Co. Ltd. No. 1919, Cranford. Built in 1924, this 102-year-old steam locomotive has joined the railway courtesy of Chris and Simon Theaker and will be the mainstay of operations throughout the season. Visitors will also have the chance to get even closer to steam railways through driver experience days, running on selected dates. Full details are available on the railway’s website.

The 2026 events calendar features a wide range of popular family favourites, including the Easter Egg Hunt, Teddy Bear Picnic, Princesses and Pirates, Ford Model T event, Exotic Express, Model Railway Exhibition, and Classic Transport Day. These themed days are designed to appeal to children and adults alike, making them ideal for memorable family outings.

The much-loved 1940s Weekend returns on new dates, taking place on August 8 and 9. This expanded event will feature performances by Ava Evergreen, The Ronnies, the Blitz Dancers, and Jeep Johnson across both days. For the first time, the event will extend into Horsehay Village Hall, which will host vintage stalls. The Engine Shed Brewery bar will also return, alongside appearances by Winston and Mrs Churchill and Field Marshal Montgomery. With re-enactors, promenaders, military vehicles, and the hope of a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flypast, the weekend promises to be a standout event of the season.

New attractions for 2026 include a duck-themed treasure hunt, a murder mystery evening event, and the railway’s first ever narrow-gauge gala, taking place on June 6. Visitors are encouraged to follow Telford Steam Railway on social media and check the website regularly for the latest updates.

Popular fish and chip specials and cream tea trains will also run on selected dates. These services are extremely popular, and pre-booking is essential as they often sell out quickly.

Tickets for most events are now available to pre-book online at www.telfordsteamrailway.co.uk/events-2026.
