Simon Cowell’s X Factor contestants have sent their love and well wishes to the judge after he missed the first weekend of live shows as he recovers from a fall down the stairs.

Boy band Rak-Su, who took to the stage on Sunday night without the presence of their mentor, said they hope he will be well enough to return next week.

Arriving at the Pride of Britain Awards, Myles Rak-Su told the Press Association: “It wasn’t hard but it was more we wanted to show Simon how hard we have been working and what we’ve been working on, but we know he was at home and he needs his rest.”

The group said Cowell was represented at the show by his young son Eric, joking: “Eric was flying the flag.

“I’m sure if it was a bad performance he would have come up to us and told us afterwards.”

Myles added: “We haven’t tried to hassle him (Simon) too much to be honest, we just want him to rest up and hopefully be fit enough for the weekend. All the best to Simon, we wish him well.”

Alesha Dixon filled in for Cowell for the second show of the weekend after the panel only had three members on Saturday night.

Two thirds of sibling group The Cutkelvins also sent their love to Cowell, with band member Jay saying: “It was amazing last night, we wish Simon all the best and hope he has a good recovery. Last night was so good, we had Alesha there in his place.
