The New Zealand singer took to the stage at Birmingham's O2 academy performing to packed out crowds.

Dressed in a glittery leotard and long black chiffon skirt, she twirled and marched across the stage surrounded by professional dancers performing poignant duets to the music.

Tracks from Lorde's latest album, Melodrama, including Liability, were delivered beneath colourful floral archways made out of lights whilst songs she wrote when she was 16, were performed in front of vintage blurry TV screens.

The audience made up of all ages, from teenage girls to couple in their thirties to the middle-aged - showed the appeal of this international artist.

Lorde's performance of hit Royals was a highlight, getting people up and dancing as well as shouting out the lyrics along with her.

The artist's vocals were exceptional. Her delivery was perfect for the venue and the whole evening was truly entertaining.

It was an energetic, exciting gig with an atmosphere of delight and sheer enjoyment as people young and old spent a Sunday night, beer in hand, listening to someone exceptional sing her heart out.
