The award-winning young magician has just returned to his home near Oswestry from working on the Queen Mary 2.

The cruise ship was on its special fifth anniversary cruise around the UK, where he entertained a 2,500 strong guest list including Leslie Garrett, Carol Thatcher and Sir Jimmy Saville.

As well as Paul's show, guests were treated to concerts from Leslie Garrett and the Liverpool Philharmonic orchestra as well as fireworks in Greenock, Scotland and Liverpool.

Paul, who went to school at Rhyn Park, St Martins, has performed on many cruise liners on all seven continents but he said that this really was a special experience for him.

"It's a true honour to be invited to perform on the Queen Mary 2 at any time but I was delighted to be part of the festivities on this historical trip," Paul said.

"I have spent hundreds of days out of the UK over the last three years performing on some of the largest cruise ships in the world but I'm glad to say that I will be spending the remainder of 2009 here in the UK. I have a busy schedule performing at Christmas events, schools, hotels and other venues in and around Shropshire."

In 2003 Paul Dabek was named The Magic Circle's Young Magician of the Year. Since then he has made several national television appearances and performed around the globe.

He was awarded the International Brotherhood of Magicians' British Shield for his performance at their yearly convention.

And he has also toured the UK with his sell out one-man show "Nothing Up My Sleeve".
