Shropshire-based Flex-E-Rent commissions new transporters

New transporters for luxury cars have been created by a Shropshire company to cater for its parent company's high-end vehicle hire arm.

Enterprise Flex-E-Rent, which is based in Shrewsbury after taking over Burnt Tree Vehicle Rental in 2014, has created the transporters for parent company Enterprise Rent-A-Car's Exotic Car Collection in the UK.

Luxury cars in the collection don't come cheap. Borrowing a Ferrari California or Lamborghini Gallardo for a day on a weekend will set you back £2,700, while the cheaper Prosche Boxster costs £645.

The company's Shropshire-based commercial vehicle operation developed the new transporters to accommodate the width of the range of luxury cars.

The tilt and slide design of the body enables the whole of the deck area to slide off the back of the chassis and sit almost level with the ground, giving a low ground clearance for loading and unloading cars such as Rolls-Royces and Maseratis.

Danny Glynn, managing director of Enterprise Flex-E-Rent, said: "The vehicles in our Exotic Car Collection can't just be driven away from a branch like a normal hire car.

"Customers rightly expect an exceptional 'white glove' experience and for the cars to be treated like the masterpieces they are. That's why we've created specialist transporters that are masterpieces in their own right.

"Transporting luxury and high performance sports vehicles is a specialised operation. The transporters had to be covered units and also needed to accommodate the extra width to allow for the varying dimensions of the cars in our Exotic Car Collection. We had to make sure we could fit the complete range through the opening on the roller door."
