Harper Adams University to light up for 125th anniversary festive celebration
A Christmas light show, festive market and family activities will feature at a free event at Harper Adams University in December
Harper Adams University is inviting the public to its Edgmond campus for a Christmas celebration marking its 125th anniversary.

The event will take place on Wednesday, December 9, from 4pm to 8pm, with a programme of festive entertainment, light displays and activities for families.
A 12-minute light projection on the front of the university’s historic Foundation House will tell the story of Harper Adams, from its beginnings in 1901 to its work today.
The show has been created in collaboration with Rose Bruford College in London and will feature narration by honorary graduates Felicity Finch and Adam Henson.
The campus will also feature illuminated trees, a Christmas market selling gifts and crafts, street food and live music from local performers Brass Buttons.
Families will be able to take part in activities linked to food, farming, animals, nature and sustainability, alongside interactive science displays.
Associate Professor of Entomology Heather Campbell will also deliver a festive lecture titled The Twelve Bugs of Christmas.
Ian Rowley, executive director of institutional reputation and engagement at Harper Adams University, said the anniversary was an opportunity to celebrate the university’s history and its links with the local community.
The event is being organised with Shropshire Festivals and forms part of the university’s programme to mark 125 years since its foundation.
Ian Rowley, executive director of institutional reputation and engagement at Harper Adams University, said: “We want this to be a memorable and special occasion, not just for Harper Adams, but for the whole community.
“Our 125th anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate how far we’ve come, the impact of the exciting work happening at the university today, and our ambitions for the future.”
Admission is free, but visitors are asked to register in advance through Eventbrite: Harper Adams University Festive Celebration.
A special bus service from Newport is planned, with further details about transport, parking and activities expected to be announced before the event.
