Children help plant hundreds of bulbs and open improved Shropshire play area
Children in Halloween costumes joined volunteers and councillors to celebrate improvements at Annscroft play area, near Shrewsbury
More than 300 bulbs have been planted at a Shropshire play area as part of a community event marking the opening of new play equipment and an outdoor gym.

Volunteers and councillors from Longden Parish Council were joined by children in Halloween costumes at Annscroft play area for the planting session in the autumn sunshine.
Daffodils, crocuses and native bluebells were planted along the bank at the top of the play area, with hopes they will provide a colourful display in the months ahead and attract pollinators and other wildlife.

Six-year-old Mia had the honour of cutting the ribbon to officially open a new climbing frame featuring two slides, a fireman’s pole and interactive panels.
Children who took part in the event were rewarded with Halloween treats.

Adults also had the chance to try out the new outdoor gym equipment, which offers residents a way to exercise without paying for a gym membership, while keeping an eye on children using the play area.
The new equipment was bought with a donation to the parish council and installed by Ray Parry Playgrounds Ltd.
