Tom Booth Amos made it three wins on the spin with another brilliant ride at Oulton Park in the Hel Performance Motostar British Championship.

The Newport star had set the early benchmark by dominating the two practice sessions on Saturday, as well as being fastest through all sectors at Outlon Park, with an average speed of 91.75mph.

The 21-year-old stormed to pole position setting near lap record pace for Bank Holiday Monday's race, which was shortened to 11 laps following an incident at the start.

Booth-Amos got away first with Eugine McManus and Taz Taylor in pursuit, but after dominating each lap he began leaving his rivals behind to take the chequered flag and improve his title credentials.

"Every session I managed to learn more with the KTM and we are now getting it dialled in," he said.

"To take another pole and win feels like a dream. I couldn't do any of this without my team at Team City Lifting."

Louis Dawson was also back in action, having missed the previous round, after opting to return to Ducati TriOptions Cup on his trusted 899, rather than the 959 that had plagued his campaign with clutch and gearbox issues.

The 21-year-old, from Highley, was holding sixth place on lap two on the opening race when a bike ahead crashed out and spilled coolant onto the track, which brought five riders down, including Dawson.

For the Monday race, he was placed on row 12 with the rest of the fallers at the very back of the grid but he fought through the pack from 36th up to ninth place overall and first in class.

Dawson said: “I knew it would be a bit of a task to get into the top 10 from so far back but I had to make up for the disappointment of Sunday’s crash due to the contaminated track.

"I enjoyed the challenge but the 899 struggles to keep up with the torque of the 959s that are now leading the pack.

"I’m happy to bring back points from the weekend and a podium finish."

Teenage star Ross Turner, from Broseley, also enjoyed his best race weekend to date in the British Motostar class.

The 13-year-old made some big steps forward to finish 10th in the standard class.

Ross' father, Simon, said: "I was good considering it was a brand new circuit and probably one of the hardest to learn.

"Each session he improved and he was nice and happy with the bike.

"We made some little tweaks and it all helped him to keep pace with the fastest riders out there.

"He was put off a little bit on the start line because there was a big crash but once he got going he was flying around the circuit."

Bridgnorth-based Michael Rutter also stormed to his best finish of the season, securing third place in the National Superstock 1000 series on his Bathams BMW.

The result leaves the 44-year-old, who now turns his attentions to the North West 200, in North Ireland, next week, fifth in the championship table.

Support classes for the British Superbikes series will be back in action at Knockhill, in Soctland, on June 16-18.

The National Superstock 1000 series returns slightly earlier on the undercard of the World Superbike round six at Donington Park, May 26-28.
