Telford Tigers given trophy go-ahead
Telford Tigers will now be entered into the NIHL Autumn Trophy for the 2017/18 season following a Northern Section meeting on Sunday.
This is the second cup competition Tigers will compete in this season following last week’s confirmation of the club’s entry in the NIHL National Cup.
Tigers chairman Mike Washburn said: “The new league and cup competitions will bring new challenges and new opposing teams as well as renewing some old rivalries for fans to enjoy and is a great step forward for the club.”
Coach and general manager Tom Watkins added: “We want to be playing as many games as possible to really test ourselves and have the opportunity to compete for silverware.
“To be playing teams from both conferences this year is great for both fans and players alike. It’s certainly shaping up to be an interesting season.”
