‘It’s been an honour’ - Taylor Perry confirms Shrewsbury Town departure with emotional message
Taylor Perry says it ‘has been an honour’ to play for Shrewsbury Town.
Taylor Perry has bid an emotional farewell to Shrewsbury Town after confirming his departure following the expiry of his contract.
Perry had been offered new terms to stay at the Croud Meadow as his deal expired this summer.
However, in a post on social media, the 24-year-old former Wolves academy graduate confirmed he has departed as a free agent.
Writing on Instagram, Perry said: “My time at Shrewsbury Town has come to an end.
“Three seasons, 133 appearances. I am forever grateful to everyone connected and it has been an honour to represent the football club.
“Full of highs and lows along the way and I want to thank all of my team-mates, staff and the fans who have supported me over the past three years and made my time enjoyable since I arrived.
“I wish everybody the best for the future.”
Speaking after the start of pre-season, Town boss Gavin Cowan suggested the “ship has sailed” on Perry’s Shrewsbury future.

Supporters had been awaiting official confirmation over Perry’s future as the midfielder has not been involved in pre-season training.
The Stourbridge-born midfielder joined Salop after leaving Wolves in 2023, having previously enjoyed two loan spells at Cheltenham Town.
Town triggered a one-year extension in Perry’s contract last summer, and he went on to make 42 League Two appearances last season, starting 34 matches.
Aside from serving a two-match suspension in March, Perry featured in every league game under Cowan. He finished the campaign with two league goals and one assist.
He was offered a new deal alongside Josh Ruffels and Luca Hoole, but has now left the club as a free agent.
