'Get a grip and back off': Popular Shrewsbury restaurant hits out over malicious immigration reports
The award-winning business has two venues in the town
A popular Shrewsbury restaurant has taken to social media to reveal it was targeted with malicious immigration reports.
The House of Yum, which began as one of Shrewsbury Market Hall’s celebrated dining venues and has expanded with a second restaurant on Mardol, confirmed the details in an online post.

Earlier this year the business, which serves Thai food, celebrated 10 years of trading in the town.
But, in a message on the restaurant’s Instagram page, owners Amar and Pabel Saha, have revealed that the business has twice been reported to the Home Office in recent months.
The emotional post expresses frustration at the situation, and urges those behind the reports to speak to them directly.
It said: “To the individuals who have reported us not once, but twice, to the Home Office in the last five months, this message is for you.
“If you have a problem, come and speak to us directly.
“Unfortinately for you, there’s no illegal activity going on at our restaurants.
“Like everyone else, we have a home to run and a family to feed.
“You are wasting our time.
“Your attempt to ruin our reputation within Shrewsbury is clearly not working for you, so we kindly request you get a grip and back off.”
It added: “To all of our lovely regular customers - as always, we thank you for your continued support.
“We appreciate each and every one of you that chooses to spend their time with us, celebrate their occasions and enjoy our food.
“We are always grateful to be a part of your day!”
The post has been met with a host of supportive comments with some suggesting repercussions for people who make false reports to the authorities.
House of Yum is a four‑time winner of the Market Trader of the Year award in Shrewsbury, and opened its second venue in 2025.
