Stoke City youngster on trial with Shrewsbury Town

Stoke City youngster Favour Fawunmi is on trial with Shrewsbury Town.
Fawunmi has been training with Salop and featured as a trialist during their first pre-season outing.
It’s understood the trial is with a view to a potential loan move. Town are unable to sign players for a fee for the remainder of the summer transfer window after being placed under an EFL transfer fee restriction, while the 20-year-old is under contract with Stoke until next year.
Fawunmi featured in the second half of Shrewsbury’s goalless draw with non-league Stafford Rangers on Tuesday night.

During his cameo, the 20-year-old beat two players before driving towards goal, where he saw his shot turned behind for a corner.
Salop boss Gavin Cowan was impressed with Fawunmi’s display during the 45 minutes he played at Marston Road.
Asked about the trialist, he said: “I can't say anything at the moment. I just thought he was really good, really sharp, a potential. So, yeah, we’ll see.”
All seven of Town’s summer signings featured in the pre-season outing at Stafford.
Jay Turner-Cooke, Josh Davison and Jack Price all appeared alongside Fawunmi after the break, while newest recruit Joe Gbode started the match alongside Arkell Jude-Boyd, Isaac Fletcher and Byron Pendleton.
Fawunmi remains under contract with Championship club Stoke City, having joined the Potters in February last year after leaving West Ham United, where he came through the youth ranks.
The forward signed a two-and-a-half-year contract at the bet365 Stadium and made his senior debut the day after joining in an FA Cup tie against Cardiff City.
Fawunmi joined League One side Leyton Orient on loan on February 2 for the remainder of last season. However, the spell was cut short in early April after the youngster sustained a hamstring injury.
He returned to Stoke’s Clayton Wood training ground to continue his rehabilitation.
The 20-year-old made seven appearances for Orient, adding to the two Championship outings he made for the Potters.
Before his move to Brisbane Road, Fawunmi had scored eight goals and provided three assists in 13 appearances for Stoke’s under-21s.
