Shrewsbury Town fans involved in 'worst case of large-scale fighting seen in Sheffield in over a decade'
There were around 50 police vehicles on the scene according to witnesses.
Large-scale fighting allegedly involving Shrewsbury Town fans described as “worst seen in 10 or 15 years” sparked a huge police presence at a train station, it has been reported.
Salop fans are understood to have clashed with Sheffield Wednesday fans at Sheffield railway station while making their way back to Shropshire after yesterday’s thrilling 3-3 draw away at Rotherham United.
An eye-witness to the incident told the Sheffield Star that fans from different clubs arriving at the station on Saturday (October 24) evening clashed on a platform.

Wednesday fans were returning to the city following their 2-0 defeat at Doncaster Rovers.
It is alleged missiles such as glass bottles were thrown from one group to another and police arrived at the scene quickly, before smaller incidents involving other fans passing through later in the evening.
Dozens of police vehicles were pictured parked outside the station just before 7pm on Saturday evening, with another witness saying they had “never seen so many cop cars in my life”, with an estimate of 50 vehicles seen and more reportedly being driven down the Parkway shortly after.
It is unclear at this stage if any arrests were made or any injuries were suffered.
South Yorkshire Police, British Transport Police, West Mercia Police and the ambulance service have been contacted for more information.
