Pensioner, 86, denies historic child sex abuse charges in Telford

Judge sets trial date for October next year over allegations dating back more than 40 years.

A pensioner has denied a number of historic child sexual abuse charges.

David Cotton, aged 86, appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court where he pleaded not guilty to four counts of inciting a girl to commit an act of gross indecency, and one count of indecent assault.

The offences are alleged to have taken place in Telford between 1978 and 1980.

Judge Deni Mathews set a trial date of October 25 next year. The trial is estimated to last four days.

Cotton, of Lyne Terrace, Lynemouth, Morpeth, Northumberland, was granted unconditional bail in the meantime.
