‘He’s annoyed’ - Gavin Cowan explains Jack Price’s Shrewsbury Town absence

Jack Price missed Shrewsbury Town’s pre-season friendly against West Brom after suffering an inflamed heel.
Town boss Gavin Cowan played down any major concerns over the midfielder, who returned to his hometown club this summer.

Price had featured throughout Shrewsbury’s previous pre-season fixtures but was ruled out of the clash with Albion after developing the issue.
Cowan said: “He’s just got a bit of a niggle. He’s had a little bit of a bursa come up, inflamed on his heel, it’s come out of nowhere.
“I don’t know if it’s a bit of an infection or what not. The medical team are just doing everything they can just to try and settle that down.
“But it’s a little bit angry at the moment. So, it is just a bit of an infection.
“No injury per se. It’s just come out of nowhere, a little bit out of the blue. He’s a bit annoyed to be honest, because he really wanted to play in a game like this.
“It wasn’t just the out-of-possession today, we’re really focused on that turnover.
“Byron (Pendleton) makes a bit of a mistake trying to turn the ball over in our box, but it sort of comes from me, really, asking them to just, instead of just lashing the ball away, let’s try and turn it over, let’s try and be brave.
“Obviously, we don’t want to do that in kamikaze areas. So I’ll probably take the blame for that one.
“Again, just asking them to not only be good out-of-possession, but when we turn it over, can we then lend a pass and try and be composed enough to get out?
“So, yeah, Pricey would have been great for a day like today, but unfortunately, he’s got a bit of an infection on his heel.
“We’re just waiting for it to settle down. I’m not sure how long that'll take.”
Jay Snook also missed the game after being forced off against Everton Under-21s with a tight hamstring.
Luca Hoole remained sidelined, while George Lloyd returned to the starting line-up in attack.
