Matt Cox became a firm fan favourite during his short spell in Shropshire.

Former Shrewsbury Town loan favourite Matt Cox has joined Barnet on a season-long loan from Brentford.

The 23-year-old has now secured another loan move to the fourth tier, joining Barnet until the end of the campaign.

Upon joining the Bees, Cox said: “I think this is a very good club and a really ambitious club that’s definitely been heading in the right direction.

“Obviously following and seeing results and the way the club’s been playing over the last few years is very attractive for me to come to and want to impact this club and help achieve its dreams of going up the leagues and playing good football.”

Barnet finished eighth in League Two last season.

Following the campaign, Cox earned high praise from Shrewsbury boss Gavin Cowan for his impressive loan spell in Shropshire.

The England youth international was part of the Young Lions squad that won the 2022 UEFA European Under-19 Championship, starting four of their five matches and earning a place in the Team of the Tournament.

He has also made seven appearances for England Under-20s and has been called up to the England Under-21s squad on three occasions.
