'Bunbury' George Hargrave is capped
Shrewsbury teenager George Hargrave is set to rub shoulders with England's best young cricketers after being selected for the prestigious Bunbury Festival.
The 15-year-old, who is Shrewsbury Cricket Club's youngest ever first-teamer, received his Bunbury cap from former England spinner Graeme Swann.
And the Harley youngster, who has been selected to represent the Midlands in the four-region under-15s tournament at Oakham School in Rutland, will hope to follow in the footsteps of more than 300 former Bunbury participants who have gone on to play first-class cricket.
More than 60 'Bunburys' have gone on to represent England and this year's tournament is being watched by former England coach Andy Flower, with players who impress earning places in the England development programme.
Shrewsbury second XI skipper Jon Anders, who has captained Shrewsbury School pupil Hargrave, said: "He does look very young but he more than makes up for that with his maturity.
"For his age he is very talented and he is reminiscent of someone like James Taylor, who did very well for us at this age and has gone on to play for England."
