The duo have been promoted from the development squad with the county having just pride to play for in the season finale, starting on Sunday.

Under-17 wicketkeeper-batsman Harry Chandler also joins the squad to carry out 12th man duties.

Robbie Clarke and Charlie Morris make way, with Ryan Lockley returning to replace the unavailable Will Parton for the game at Shrewsbury.

Cook, a 19-year-old seam bowling all-rounder, plays for Worfield in Birmingham & Dsitrct League Division Three and his club skipper Nick Hudson has backed Cook to take the call-up in his stride.

Hudson said: "Will is a nice lad and very grounded, as well as being a talented cricketer. He has been Worfield's shining light with the bat this season.

"He's my vice-captain so he's learning the ropes early and is definitely a future captain. It's a fantastic achievement for him and I'm over the moon that he's got this chance."

Home, the 16-year-old son of former county player Ed Home, bowls off-spin as well as being a capable batsman. He plays for Shifnal in Division Two.

Chairman of selectors Brian Foxall said: "We indentified Will and Charlie in winter nets as players who had great potential.

"We have been waiting for the opportunity to give them their chance and we wish them every success. Although there's nothing to play for, we still want to be positive and win the game."
