Shropshire's Adrian Gunnell today admitted he was "still having nightmares" over the costly miss which ended his hopes in the inaugural Snooker Shoot-Out.

Gunnell bowed out of the rapid-fire one-frame-knockout event in Blackpool after a narrow defeat to Stuart Bingham in the second round on Saturday.

The 38-year-old from Telford led 34-6 with the clock running down on a frame which had a 10 minute limit.

But he missed a straight-forward black off its spot and Bingham held his nerve to edge 37-34 ahead at the end of the frame, sealing victory with a blue in the dying seconds.

"I'm still having nightmares about that black," said Gunnell.

"I was in two minds how to play the shot and ended up not committing to either.

"It's a shame because the tournament was wide open and I was feeling good."

Gunnell had displayed impressive form in the opening round as he produced a break of 85 against David Morris at 30-0 down.

He earned £1,000 for that victory but his missed black cost him a guaranteed £2,000 and a place in the last 16.

But, despite having reservations over the new format, Gunnell admitted he enjoyed the weekend.

"On the whole, the atmosphere was good," he said.

"I was pretty sceptical about the tournament but there is a place for it.

"I wouldn't like to see too many tournaments like it but, as a novelty event, I think it worked."
