Engineering business creating 60 jobs at Telford and Bridgnorth sites
Engineering firm Grainger & Worrall has revealed plans to double the size of its engineering team by creating 60 jobs.
The company has used National Apprenticeship Week to reveal plans to appoint at least eight apprentices and four graduates per year to its engineering team over the next five years at its two sites in Bridgnorth and Telford.
It follows a lengthy period of investment that has seen Grainger& Worrall, which counts Formula 1 racing teams among its customers, spend millions of pounds on upgrading its facilities to increase its engineering and production capacity.
Director Edward Grainger said: "We are an innovative British high-value manufacturer, committed to delivering exceptional solutions for a global market, so identifying talented staff and expanding our recruitment pool is essential.
"At Grainger & Worrall, we're committed to not only discovering these individuals, but also developing their abilities in a fast-paced environment."
In the last two-and-a-half years Grainger & Worrall has spent more than £6 million on its facilities on Bridgnorth's Stanmore Industrial Estate and Stafford Park in Telford.
That has included spending on machinery, and on a new inspection laboratory.
The company, which provides components for high-specification vehicles, currently employs a total of 400 people, but is set to add to its team once again with the latest appointments.
As well as providing good news for the county's jobs market as a whole, the new roles will also go some way towards alleviating the problem of youth unemployment which continues to blight the monthly jobless figures.
Mr Grainger said: "Our team plays an instrumental role in the design and supply of powertrain components for the world's most desirable vehicles.
"As a full-service supplier, our trainees have the unique opportunity to be involved in the early concept work all the way to finished machined parts and assembly. The ability to learn and gain vital hands-on knowledge is tremendous."
