Powys police commissioner encourages businesses to attend cyber event
Businesses across the region are invited to attend a free conference designed to help them strengthen their cyber resilience and protect themselves against emerging digital threats.
The Welsh Government -funded Wales Cyber Resilience Centre Roadshow will take place at Parc Y Scarlets, Llanelli on Thursday, September 17, from 1pm until 5pm.
Dyfed Powys Police and Crime Commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn said: “Cybercrime can affect organisations of every type and size.
“Whether you are a sole trader or medium-sized business, charity or larger organisation, understanding the risks and the practical measures you can put in place, is increasingly important.
“The conference will bring together cyber security experts, representatives from Dyfed-Powys Police and Industry specialists to share practical advice that businesses can use to improve their security, protect their data and respond effectively if an incident occurs.”
A particular focus of the event will be the threat posed through supply chains.
Businesses are increasingly connected to suppliers, contractors and other organisations through shared systems and information.
Mr Llewellyn said; “Our conference will explore these risks, and the steps businesses can take to protect themselves and those they work with.
“Along with our expert speakers, we will also welcome former international rugby referee Nigel Owens MBE as our guest speaker.
“Nigel will speak about his personal resilience journey, bringing a different and important perspective to the afternoon.
“Cyber Resilience is not simply an IT issue. It is about ensuring that a business can continue to operate and adapt and recover when faced with a cyber incident.
“As your Police and Crime Commissioner, I am pleased that we are able to bring this free event to you. I would encourage businesses and organisations from across the area that would benefit from this support to reserve a place.”
Places are free, with lunch provided and advance registration is required. Full
