A 30mph speed limit could be imposed on a stretch of Shrewsbury road.

A public consultation is under way on Shropshire Council proposals to reduce the speed restriction on part of Longden Road from 40mph to 30mph.
The proposal has been put forward because of plans for a new housing development in the area. The stretch of road extends from Silver Birch Drive to just past Sweetlake Cottages.
New street lighting will also be put in on a section of the road under the plans.
The council consultation, which runs until October 28, states that the 40mph limit is no longer considered appropriate.
"We, as the local highway authority, consider that the existing 40mph speed limit located here will no longer be appropriate," said the council's report.
