Changes at the top in Shropshire Council cabinet shake-up
Two new councillors have been added to Shropshire Council’s cabinet as part of a shake-up of roles.
Leader Peter Nutting said last month he was planning on making a number of changes to his portfolio holders.
Now Councillor Dean Carroll has been brought in to take on adult social services from Councillor Lee Chapman.
Meanwhile, Councillor Ed Potter will take over children’s services from Councillor Nick Bardsley, who will become his deputy.
Explaining the move, Councillor Nutting said: “I have brought Ed Potter to look after children’s services as Nick Bardsley wants to spend more time on his business and will act as his deputy.
“Dean Carroll will also join cabinet to look after adult social services.
“Lee Chapman will take on a new role as portfolio holder for organisational transformation to oversee the digital transformation taking place within the council.”
Councillor Nutting said he was looking forward to the moves coming into effect from Sunday.

Last week, Councillor Lezley Picton was given the waste portfolio to add to her leisure and culture duties.
This followed Councillor Joyce Barrow’s resignation from the cabinet to spend more time with her family.
Councillor Picton said: “I have been known as the ‘minister of fun’ under leisure and culture, which isn’t true, as it is a vital service.
“But I am now looking forward to working on this important portfolio as well.”
Councillor Gwilym Butler is also a recent addition to the cabinet, taking on the portfolio for communities, place planning and regulatory services.
There will be an annual meeting in April to confirm the roles of Councillor Nutting as leader and Councillor Steve Charmley as his deputy, with no changes to those roles anticipated.
