Drying towel causes Telford property fire

A small fire was started in a property after a towel was left on a radiator.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service dispatched a fire engine from Telford Central at 8am on Wednesday after an automatic fire alarm alerted them to a property fire at Slaney Court in the Oakengates area of the town.

The fire service said the alarm was activated following small blaze caused by a towel left on a radiator.

Crews used breathing apparatus and a hosereel jet to extinguish the flames and a stop message was recorded at 8.16am.
