Teddy the 12-month-old cockerpoo went missing on December 27, after Michelle Williams returned home in Trench to find her doors open and her dog nowhere to be seen.

Police Community Support officer Michelle said: "Nothing was taken from the house, I think Teddy must have scared someone off but then he left the house himself.

"I think he went that far that he didn't know how to get home."

She posted an appeal on Facebook that was shared 2,800 times, asking anyone that could help to keep an eye out for Teddy.

The response Michelle and partner Tom Foster got from the people of Telford and Wrekin was overwhelming.

"70 people turned up to help look. Any time I have been out looking for him I have had cars pulling up and offering to help," said Michelle.

"People with thermal imaging have been helping, we got farmers to check their barns and any warm areas."

The dog was eventually tracked down after a call from someone who saw him.

Michelle explained on Facebook: "Tom had a call from a lady to say she had just seen Ted behind a fence at the Severn Trent Quarry near Humbers Lane.

"A man helped Tom climb a number of fences to get to Teddy and bring him back.

"Telford and other areas have pulled together so much as a community to help me and my family get our dog back without ever meeting us before.

"I just can't thank you all enough."

The couple planned to take Teddy for a public walk on Sunday, to thank the people who helped track 'the most famous dog in Telford'.
