Best foot forward for Derwen College
A fun run and walk to raise money for a specialist college will be held on Sunday.
Derwen College at Gobowen near Oswestry has held an annual sponsored walk for more than 50 years, raising tens of thousands of pounds over half a century.
This year the college, for students with learning difficulties, has added a new angle to the event, inviting runners to tackle the 10 kilometre route.
Walker and runners will use the same course, a mix of country lanes and footpaths, stewarded by volunteers.
Those who are running will set off just before the walkers.
Eluned Watson from the college said: "This is the first year we have included a Fun Run opportunity for runners and we’re hoping to attract people who might be new to 10k running. They will have the option to fall back and join walkers if they need to."
Anyone who would like to take part can turn up for registration from 9.30am until the 11am start. It will cost £10 to register.
There will be complimentary soup and tea or coffee for all those taking part and mothers will receive a mother's day gift.
