Today we celebrate VE Day, the end of the war in Europe. But victory came at a cost. This is the 2005 service to commemorate the 60th anniversary, held at St Mary's Church in Ellesmere, organised by the Royal British Legion. During the sounding of the Last Post, the standard bearers lower their flags.

We're going back to October 1983 with this aerial view of Telford town centre, and the big building is Telford Racquet Centre. At the top of the picture is the Hollinswood housing estate.

Sock it to them, Richie. Telford's World Super Middleweight champion Richie Woodhall with the boys from Donnington Boxing Club and the club's only girl member, Lorna Lucas, aged 13, from Donnington, at Donnington Ex-Servicemen's Club back in April 1998.

There was a major fire in the turbine hall of Ironbridge Power Station which took place on October 10, 1998. The fire is thought to have been caused by the fracture of a pipe supplying lubricating oil to No 2 turbine, spraying oil on to hot pipework. Although power station staff were not directly involved in fighting the fire, two members were referred to hospital as a precaution after being involved in the incident control procedures.
