Motorists avoided serious injuries in the crash off the Tern Hill island towards Hinstock this morning.

Emergency services, including firefighters from Market Drayton, police officers and paramedics, were called to the accident at about 9.15am.

A statement on behalf of Market Drayton Fire Station said: "On arrival two vehicles were still on the carriageway – one having suffered significant front end damage.

"We are happy to report that there were no serious injuries to any persons, with the occupants of the cars having suffered shock only.
